Two Wells Community Fund Cheque Presentation Ceremony held on 31 July 2019
On Wednesday morning 31 July 2019 at the Two Wells Library the Honourable John Dawkins presented cheques to the three (3) community groups who were awarded funds from the Two Wells CommunityFund’s first grant round.

On Wednesday morning 31 July 2019 at the Two Wells Library the Honourable John Dawkins presented cheques to the three (3) community groups who were awarded funds from the Two Wells CommunityFund’s first grant round.
Back in November 2012 Hickinbotham Developments and the former District Council of Mallala signed the Two Wells Residential Development Deed relating to the Eden and Liberty Housing Projects at Two Wells. As part of the Deed, the Two Wells Community Fund was to be established with both parties contributing a set amount of money after the finalisation of each property settlement in the Developer’s new estates.
The Fund aims to support local community groups deliver sustainable services and programs which achieve social and practical outcomes for the community. The Two Wells Community Fund Committee(TWCFC) was endorsed by Council in February 2019 and the Honourable John Dawkins was named the Independent Chairperson; General Manager Development and Community Rob Veitch was Council’s representative and Ruth Vagnarelli, a member of the Hickinbotham Group, was Hickinbotham’s member.
The Committee met in March 2019 and the first round of the Two Wells Community Fund was shortly opened and a decision regarding the allocation of Community Fund was determined by the Committee in late June 2019. Three (3) groups were awarded a total of $13,100.
The Two Wells Regional Action Team’s Skate Park Committee received a grant of $5,000 to assist them install a temporary pump track in the future. The Two Wells Community Fund Committee supported the installation of dual flush toilets, which will conserve water at the Two Wells Community Centre. The Community Centre was allocated half the cost of this project, which totalled $3,100. The Two Wells LionsClub wish to install a shadesail over the tables they have provided at the Two Wells Playground. By providing a shaded area at the Two Wells Playground this will offer both visitors and locals alike much needed sun protection during summer and families are more likely to stay for an extended period and enjoy the facilities. The Honourable John Dawkins presented the Two Wells Lions Club with a $5,000 cheque at the ceremony which was attended by approximately 30 invited guests.
Mayor Mark Wasley said “the Two Wells Community Fund is an excellent example of local government and private enterprise working successfully together, for the betterment of the local community”. RuthVagnarelli, a member of the Hickinbotham Group added “It has been fantastic to work together on the fund committee and support community projects. It has been exciting to see our Eden and Liberty developments take shape and there will 100 families living in Eden by Christmas.”
Mayor Mark Wasley finished the proceedings with the launch of this year’s South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Exhibition. This year 15 talented artists entered the festival and over 45 pieces are exhibited at the Two Wells Library, many with this year’s theme – “Spread your wings” cleverly incorporated into their original artwork. The SALA exhibition can be viewed by the public for the month of August during the Library’s opening hours.
